Bolton Wanderers were drawn in Group F with Braga, Bayern Munich, Aris Salonika and Crvena Zvezda in the Group Stage of the 2007 - 2008 UEFA Cup. See the match fixtures for more details.

Bayern Munich previous winners (1996) of the competition beat Belenenses of Portugal in the first round.

SC Braga of Portugal convincingly beat Hammerby of Sweden to make it through to this stage. Aris Thessalonika beat Zaragoza of Spain both home and away, while Serbian side Crvena Zvezda sidelined Groclin from Poland.

Wanderers despatched FK Rabotnicki of Macedonia to qualify for the group stage of the competition. FK Rabotnicki were unbeaten in Prva Liga lie 3rd in the table with a game in hand and have beaten Zrinjski of Bosnia-Herzegovina 2-1 on aggregate and Gorica of Slovenia 4-2 on aggregate in the qualifying rounds of this competition.

Bolton, in their first European campaign was in the 2005-2006 season. They were drawn in Group H, along with Besiktas, Sevilla, FC Zenit and Vitoria Guimaraes. Bolton made it through the group stage but was knocked out by Marseille in the last 32 of the competition.
